Surah 75: Al-Qiyamah
القيامة
Ayah 1
I swear by the Day of Resurrection
لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ La oqsimu biyawmi alqiyamat — 🔊
Ayah 2
And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].
وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ Wala oqsimu binnafsi allawwamat — 🔊
Ayah 3
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?
أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ Ayahsabu al-insanu allannajmaAAa AAithamah — 🔊
Ayah 4
Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.
بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ Bala qadireena AAala annusawwiya bananah — 🔊
Ayah 5
But man desires to continue in sin
بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ Bal yureedu al-insanu liyafjura amamah — 🔊
Ayah 6
He asks, “When is the Day of Resurrection?”
يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ Yas-alu ayyana yawmu alqiyama — 🔊
Ayah 7
So when vision is dazzled.
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ Fa-itha bariqa albasar — 🔊
Ayah 8
And the moon darkens.
وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ Wakhasafa alqamar — 🔊
Ayah 9
And the sun and the moon are joined,
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ WajumiAAa ashshamsu walqamar — 🔊
Ayah 10
Man will say on that Day, “Where is the [place of] escape?”
يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ Yaqoolu al-insanu yawma-ithinayna almafar — 🔊
Ayah 11
No! There is no refuge.
كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ Kalla la wazar — 🔊
Ayah 12
To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ Ila rabbika yawma-ithinalmustaqar — 🔊
Ayah 13
Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back
يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ Yunabbao al-insanu yawma-ithinbima qaddama waakhkhar — 🔊
Ayah 14
Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness
بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ Bali al-insanu AAala nafsihibaseera — 🔊
Ayah 15
Even if he presents his excuses.
وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ Walaw alqa maAAatheerah — 🔊
Ayah 16
Move not your tongue with it, [O Muḥammad], to hasten with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān].
لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ La tuharrik bihi lisanakalitaAAjala bih — 🔊
Ayah 17
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ Inna AAalayna jamAAahu waqur-anah — 🔊
Ayah 18
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ Fa-itha qara/nahu fattabiAAqur-anah — 🔊
Ayah 19
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ Thumma inna AAalayna bayanah — 🔊
Ayah 20
No! But you [i.e., mankind] love the immediate
كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ Kalla bal tuhibboona alAAajila — 🔊
Ayah 21
And leave [i.e., neglect] the Hereafter.
وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ Watatharoona al-akhira — 🔊
Ayah 22
[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ Wujoohun yawma-ithin nadira — 🔊
Ayah 23
Looking at their Lord
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ Ila rabbiha nathira — 🔊
Ayah 24
And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ Wawujoohun yawma-ithin basira — 🔊
Ayah 25
Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.
تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ Tathunnu an yufAAala bihafaqira — 🔊
Ayah 26
No! When it [i.e., the soul] has reached the collar bones1
كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ Kalla itha balaghati attaraqiy — 🔊
Ayah 27
And it is said, “Who will cure [him]?”
وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ Waqeela man raq — 🔊
Ayah 28
And he [i.e., the dying one] is certain that it is the [time of] separation
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ Wathanna annahu alfiraq — 🔊
Ayah 29
And the leg is wound about the leg
وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ Waltaffati assaqu bilssaq — 🔊
Ayah 30
To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ Ila rabbika yawma-ithin almasaq — 🔊
Ayah 31
And he [i.e., the disbeliever] had not believed, nor had he prayed.
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ Fala saddaqa wala salla — 🔊
Ayah 32
But [instead], he denied and turned away.
وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ Walakin kaththaba watawalla — 🔊
Ayah 33
And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ Thumma thahaba ila ahlihiyatamatta — 🔊
Ayah 34
Woe to you, and woe!
أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ Awla laka faawla — 🔊
Ayah 35
Then woe to you, and woe!
ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ Thumma awla laka faawla — 🔊
Ayah 36
Does man think that he will be left neglected?1
أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى Ayahsabu al-insanu an yutrakasuda — 🔊
Ayah 37
Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?
أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ Alam yaku nutfatan min manayyin yumna — 🔊
Ayah 38
Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allāh] created [his form] and proportioned [him]
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ Thumma kana AAalaqatan fakhalaqafasawwa — 🔊
Ayah 39
And made of him two mates, the male and the female.
فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ FajaAAala minhu azzawjayni aththakarawal-ontha — 🔊
Ayah 40
Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?
أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ Alaysa thalika biqadirin AAalaan yuhyiya almawta — 🔊
