Surah 77: Al-Mursalat
المرسلات
Ayah 1
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts
وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا Walmursalati AAurfa — 🔊
Ayah 2
And the winds that blow violently
فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا FalAAasifati AAasfa — 🔊
Ayah 3
And [by] the winds that spread [clouds]
وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا Wannashirati nashra — 🔊
Ayah 4
And those [angels] who bring criterion1
فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا Falfariqati farqa — 🔊
Ayah 5
And those [angels] who deliver a message.
فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا Falmulqiyati thikra — 🔊
Ayah 6
As justification or warning,
عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا AAuthran aw nuthra — 🔊
Ayah 7
Indeed, what you are promised is to occur.
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ Innama tooAAadoona lawaqiAA — 🔊
Ayah 8
So when the stars are obliterated
فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ Fa-itha annujoomu tumisat — 🔊
Ayah 9
And when the heaven is opened
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ Wa-itha assamao furijat — 🔊
Ayah 10
And when the mountains are blown away
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ Wa-itha aljibalu nusifat — 🔊
Ayah 11
And when the messengers’ time has come..
وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ Wa-itha arrusulu oqqitat — 🔊
Ayah 12
For what Day was it postponed?1
لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ Li-ayyi yawmin ojjilat — 🔊
Ayah 13
For the Day of Judgement.
لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ Liyawmi alfasl — 🔊
Ayah 14
And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement?
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ Wama adraka ma yawmualfasl — 🔊
Ayah 15
Woe that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 16
Did We not destroy the former peoples?
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Alam nuhliki al-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 17
Then We will follow them with the later ones.
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ Thumma nutbiAAuhumu al-akhireen — 🔊
Ayah 18
Thus do We deal with the criminals.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ Kathalika nafAAalu bilmujrimeen — 🔊
Ayah 19
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 20
Did We not create you from a liquid disdained?
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ Alam nakhluqkum min ma-in maheen — 🔊
Ayah 21
And We placed it in a firm lodging [i.e., the womb]
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ FajaAAalnahu fee qararinmakeen — 🔊
Ayah 22
For a known extent.
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ Ila qadarin maAAloom — 🔊
Ayah 23
And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine.
فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ Faqadarna faniAAma alqadiroon — 🔊
Ayah 24
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 25
Have We not made the earth a container
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا Alam najAAali al-arda kifata — 🔊
Ayah 26
Of the living and the dead?
أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا Ahyaan waamwata — 🔊
Ayah 27
And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water.
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا WajaAAalna feeha rawasiyashamikhatin waasqaynakum maan furata — 🔊
Ayah 28
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 29
[They will be told], “Proceed to that which you used to deny.
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ Intaliqoo ila ma kuntumbihi tukaththiboon — 🔊
Ayah 30
Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns.
ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ Intaliqoo ila thillinthee thalathi shuAAab — 🔊
Ayah 31
[But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame.”
لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ La thaleelin walayughnee mina allahab — 🔊
Ayah 32
Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress,
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ Innaha tarmee bishararin kalqasr — 🔊
Ayah 33
As if they were yellowish [black] camels.
كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ Kaannahu jimalatun sufr — 🔊
Ayah 34
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 35
This is a Day they will not speak,
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ Hatha yawmu la yantiqoon — 🔊
Ayah 36
Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse.
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ Wala yu/thanu lahum fayaAAtathiroon — 🔊
Ayah 37
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 38
This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples.
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Hatha yawmu alfasli jamaAAnakumwal-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 39
So if you have a plan, then plan against Me.
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ Fa-in kana lakum kaydun fakeedoon — 🔊
Ayah 40
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 41
Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ Inna almuttaqeena fee thilalinwaAAuyoon — 🔊
Ayah 42
And fruits from whatever they desire,
وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ Wafawakiha mimma yashtahoon — 🔊
Ayah 43
[Being told], “Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do.”
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Kuloo washraboo hanee-an bimakuntum taAAmaloon — 🔊
Ayah 44
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen — 🔊
Ayah 45
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 46
[O disbelievers], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals.
كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ Kuloo watamattaAAoo qaleelan innakummujrimoon — 🔊
Ayah 47
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 48
And when it is said to them, “Bow [in prayer],” they do not bow.
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ Wa-itha qeela lahumu irkaAAoo layarkaAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 49
Woe, that Day, to the deniers.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen — 🔊
Ayah 50
Then in what statement after it [i.e., the Qur’ān] will they believe?
فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ Fabi-ayyi hadeethin baAAdahuyu/minoon — 🔊
