Divine Names in the Quran

The Quran uses a rich vocabulary for God’s names and attributes (asmāʾ Allāh al-ḥusnā). These notes track how names appear in translation, Arabic roots, and links to surahs and ayat.

  • Allāh — the primary divine name
  • Ar-Raḥmān — the Entirely Merciful
  • Ar-Raḥīm — the Especially Merciful
  • Rabb — Lord / Sustainer (often with a complement: Rabb al-ʿālamīn, etc.)

How to extend

Add a new note in this folder, link it from relevant ayah commentary in surah files, and list it here or under thematic subheadings as the collection grows.
