Surah 51: Adh-Dhariyat
الذاريات
Ayah 1
By the [winds] scattering [dust], dispersing [it]
وَٱلذَّٰرِيَـٰتِ ذَرْوًا Waththariyati tharwa — 🔊
Ayah 2
And the [clouds] carrying a load [of water]
فَٱلْحَـٰمِلَـٰتِ وِقْرًا Falhamilati wiqra — 🔊
Ayah 3
And the ships sailing with ease
فَٱلْجَـٰرِيَـٰتِ يُسْرًا Faljariyati yusra — 🔊
Ayah 4
And the [angels] apportioning [each] matter,
فَٱلْمُقَسِّمَـٰتِ أَمْرًا Falmuqassimati amra — 🔊
Ayah 5
Indeed, what you are promised is true.
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقٌ Innama tooAAadoona lasadiq — 🔊
Ayah 6
And indeed, the recompense is to occur.
وَإِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ لَوَٰقِعٌ Wa-inna addeena lawaqiAA — 🔊
Ayah 7
By the heaven containing pathways
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْحُبُكِ Wassama-i thati alhubuk — 🔊
Ayah 8
Indeed, you are in differing speech
إِنَّكُمْ لَفِى قَوْلٍ مُّخْتَلِفٍ Innakum lafee qawlin mukhtalif — 🔊
Ayah 9
Deluded away from it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is he who is deluded.
يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ Yu/faku AAanhu man ofik — 🔊
Ayah 10
Destroyed are the misinformers1
قُتِلَ ٱلْخَرَّٰصُونَ Qutila alkharrasoon — 🔊
Ayah 11
Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless.
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍ سَاهُونَ Allatheena hum fee ghamratin sahoon — 🔊
Ayah 12
They ask, “When is the Day of Recompense?”
يَسْـَٔلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ Yas-aloona ayyana yawmu addeen — 🔊
Ayah 13
[It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire.
يَوْمَ هُمْ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ يُفْتَنُونَ Yawma hum AAala annariyuftanoon — 🔊
Ayah 14
[And will be told], “Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient.”
ذُوقُوا۟ فِتْنَتَكُمْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ Thooqoo fitnatakum hatha allatheekuntum bihi tastaAAjiloon — 🔊
Ayah 15
Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs,
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatinwaAAuyoon — 🔊
Ayah 16
Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
ءَاخِذِينَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ Akhitheena ma atahumrabbuhum innahum kanoo qabla thalika muhsineen — 🔊
Ayah 17
They used to sleep but little of the night
كَانُوا۟ قَلِيلًا مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُونَ Kanoo qaleelan mina allayli mayahjaAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 18
And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness,
وَبِٱلْأَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ Wabil-ashari humyastaghfiroon — 🔊
Ayah 19
And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived.
وَفِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّ لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ Wafee amwalihim haqqun lissa-iliwalmahroom — 🔊
Ayah 20
And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith]
وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ءَايَـٰتٌ لِّلْمُوقِنِينَ Wafee al-ardi ayatunlilmooqineen — 🔊
Ayah 21
And in yourselves. Then will you not see?
وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ Wafee anfusikum afala tubsiroon — 🔊
Ayah 22
And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised.
وَفِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزْقُكُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ Wafee assama-i rizqukum wamatooAAadoon — 🔊
Ayah 23
Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking.
فَوَرَبِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقٌّ مِّثْلَ مَآ أَنَّكُمْ تَنطِقُونَ Fawarabbi assama-i wal-ardiinnahu lahaqqun mithla ma annakum tantiqoon — 🔊
Ayah 24
Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham?1 -
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلْمُكْرَمِينَ Hal ataka hadeethu dayfiibraheema almukrameen — 🔊
Ayah 25
When they entered upon him and said, “[We greet you with] peace.” He answered, “[And upon you] peace; [you are] a people unknown.”
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمًا ۖ قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ Ith dakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloosalaman qala salamun qawmun munkaroon — 🔊
Ayah 26
Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf.
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ فَجَآءَ بِعِجْلٍ سَمِينٍ Faragha ila ahlihi fajaabiAAijlin sameen — 🔊
Ayah 27
And placed it near them; he said, “Will you not eat?”
فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ Faqarrabahu ilayhim qala alata/kuloon — 🔊
Ayah 28
And he felt from them apprehension They said, “Fear not,” and gave him good tidings of a learned boy.
فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ Faawjasa minhum kheefatan qaloo latakhaf wabashsharoohu bighulamin AAaleem — 🔊
Ayah 29
And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, “[I am] a barren old woman!”
فَأَقْبَلَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ فِى صَرَّةٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌ Faaqbalati imraatuhu fee sarratin fasakkatwajhaha waqalat AAajoozun AAaqeem — 🔊
Ayah 30
They said, “Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing.”
قَالُوا۟ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ Qaloo kathaliki qalarabbuki innahu huwa alhakeemu alAAaleem — 🔊
Ayah 31
[Abraham] said, “Then what is your business [here], O messengers?”
۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ Qala fama khatbukumayyuha almursaloon — 🔊
Ayah 32
They said, “Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals1
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ Qaloo inna orsilna ilaqawmin mujrimeen — 🔊
Ayah 33
To send down upon them stones of clay,
لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ Linursila AAalayhim hijaratanmin teen — 🔊
Ayah 34
Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors.”
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ Musawwamatan AAinda rabbika lilmusrifeen — 🔊
Ayah 35
So We brought out whoever was in them [i.e., the cities] of the believers.
فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Faakhrajna man kana feehamina almu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 36
And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims
فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ Fama wajadna feehaghayra baytin mina almuslimeen — 🔊
Ayah 37
And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.
وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةً لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ Watarakna feeha ayatanlillatheena yakhafoona alAAathaba al-aleem — 🔊
Ayah 38
And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority
وَفِى مُوسَىٰٓ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ Wafee moosa ith arsanahuila firAAawna bisultanin mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 39
But he turned away with his supporters and said, “A magician or a madman.”
فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَـٰحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ Fatawalla biruknihi waqala sahirunaw majnoon — 🔊
Ayah 40
So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy.
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ Faakhathnahu wajunoodahufanabathnahum fee alyammi wahuwa muleem — 🔊
Ayah 41
And in ʿAad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind
وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ Wafee AAadin ith arsalnaAAalayhimu arreeha alAAaqeem — 🔊
Ayah 42
It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins.
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَىْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَٱلرَّمِيمِ Ma tatharu min shay-in atatAAalayhi illa jaAAalat-hu karrameem — 🔊
Ayah 43
And in Thamūd, when it was said to them, “Enjoy yourselves for a time.”
وَفِى ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ Wafee thamooda ith qeela lahumtamattaAAoo hatta heen — 🔊
Ayah 44
But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on.
فَعَتَوْا۟ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ FaAAataw AAan amri rabbihim faakhathat-humuassaAAiqatu wahum yanthuroon — 🔊
Ayah 45
And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves.
فَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مِن قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنتَصِرِينَ Fama istataAAoo min qiyaminwama kanoo muntasireen — 🔊
Ayah 46
And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient.
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا فَـٰسِقِينَ Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanooqawman fasiqeen — 🔊
Ayah 47
And the heaven We constructed with strength and indeed, We are [its] expander.
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيْنَـٰهَا بِأَيْي۟دٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ Wassamaa banaynahabi-aydin wa-inna lamoosiAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 48
And the earth We have spread out, and excellent is the preparer.
وَٱلْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَـٰهَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَـٰهِدُونَ Wal-arda farashnahafaniAAma almahidoon — 🔊
Ayah 49
And of all things We created two mates [i.e., counterparts]; perhaps you will remember.
وَمِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ Wamin kulli shay-in khalaqna zawjaynilaAAallakum tathakkaroon — 🔊
Ayah 50
So flee to Allāh Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.
فَفِرُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ Fafirroo ila Allahi inneelakum minhu natheerun mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 51
And do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.
وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ Wala tajAAaloo maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara innee lakum minhu natheerun mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 52
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, “A magician or a madman.”
كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا۟ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ Kathalika ma ata allatheenamin qablihim min rasoolin illa qaloo sahirunaw majnoon — 🔊
Ayah 53
Did they suggest it to them?1 Rather, they [themselves] are a transgressing people.
أَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِهِۦ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ Atawasaw bihi bal hum qawmun taghoon — 🔊
Ayah 54
So leave them, [O Muḥammad], for you are not to be blamed.
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٍ Fatawalla AAanhum fama anta bimaloom — 🔊
Ayah 55
And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.
وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Wathakkir fa-inna aththikratanfaAAu almu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 56
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ Wama khalaqtu aljinna wal-insailla liyaAAbudoon — 🔊
Ayah 57
I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.
مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ Ma oreedu minhum min rizqin wamaoreedu an yutAAimoon — 🔊
Ayah 58
Indeed, it is Allāh who is the [continual] Provider the firm possessor of strength.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلْقُوَّةِ ٱلْمَتِينُ Inna Allaha huwa arrazzaquthoo alquwwati almateen — 🔊
Ayah 59
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their companions [i.e., predecessors], so let them not impatiently urge Me.
فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذَنُوبًا مِّثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَـٰبِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ Fa-inna lillatheena thalamoothanooban mithla thanoobi as-habihimfala yastaAAjiloon — 🔊
Ayah 60
And woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised.
فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن يَوْمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ Fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo minyawmihimu allathee yooAAadoon — 🔊
