Wise king who received divine gifts and built the Temple

Overview

Solomon is the son of David who built the Temple in Jerusalem and received unparalleled wisdom from God (1 Kgs 3). In the Quran, Sulaymān is a prophet-king given extraordinary powers: understanding the speech of birds and animals, command over the wind and jinn, and sovereignty over a great kingdom. Surah 27 (An-Naml) centers on his story, including the Queen of Sheba (Bilqis).
