Surah 37: As-Saffat
الصافات
Ayah 1
By those [angels] lined up in rows
وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّا Wassaffati saffa — 🔊
Ayah 2
And those who drive [the clouds]
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا Fazzajirati zajra — 🔊
Ayah 3
And those who recite the message
فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا Fattaliyati thikra — 🔊
Ayah 4
Indeed, your God is One,
إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ Inna ilahakum lawahid — 🔊
Ayah 5
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma warabbu almashariq — 🔊
Ayah 6
Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ Inna zayyanna assamaaaddunya bizeenatin alkawakib — 🔊
Ayah 7
And as protection against every rebellious devil
وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ Wahifthan min kulli shaytaninmarid — 🔊
Ayah 8
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ La yassammaAAoona ila almala-ial-aAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janib — 🔊
Ayah 9
Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,
دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasib — 🔊
Ayah 10
Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ Illa man khatifa alkhatfatafaatbaAAahu shihabun thaqib — 🔊
Ayah 11
Then inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], “Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?” Indeed, We created them [i.e., men] from sticky clay.
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan amman khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teeninlazib — 🔊
Ayah 12
But you wonder, while they mock,
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ Bal AAajibta wayaskharoon — 🔊
Ayah 13
And when they are reminded, they remember not.
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ Wa-itha thukkiroo la yathkuroon — 🔊
Ayah 14
And when they see a sign, they ridicule.
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ Wa-itha raaw ayatanyastaskhiroon — 🔊
Ayah 15
And say, “This is not but obvious magic.
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ Waqaloo in hatha illasihrun mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 16
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ A-itha mitna wakunnaturaban waAAithaman a-innalamabAAoothoon — 🔊
Ayah 17
And our forefathers [as well]?”
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ Awa abaona al-awwaloon — 🔊
Ayah 18
Say, “Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible.”
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroon — 🔊
Ayah 19
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ Fa-innama hiya zajratun wahidatunfa-itha hum yanthuroon — 🔊
Ayah 20
They will say, “O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense.”
وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ Waqaloo ya waylana hathayawmu addeen — 🔊
Ayah 21
[They will be told], “This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny.”
هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ Hatha yawmu alfasli allatheekuntum bihi tukaththiboon — 🔊
Ayah 22
[The angels will be ordered], “Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds and what they used to worship
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoowaazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoon — 🔊
Ayah 23
Other than Allāh, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ Min dooni Allahi fahdoohum ilasirati aljaheem — 🔊
Ayah 24
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned.”
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ Waqifoohum innahum masooloon — 🔊
Ayah 25
[They will be asked], “What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?”
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ Ma lakum la tanasaroon — 🔊
Ayah 26
But they, that Day, are in surrender.
بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoon — 🔊
Ayah 27
And they will approach one another asking [i.e., blaming] each other.
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloon — 🔊
Ayah 28
They will say, “Indeed, you used to come at us from the right.”1
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ Qaloo innakum kuntum ta/toonanaAAani alyameen — 🔊
Ayah 29
They [i.e., the oppressors] will say, “Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 30
And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ Wama kana lanaAAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheen — 🔊
Ayah 31
So the word [i.e., decree] of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbinainna latha-iqoon — 🔊
Ayah 32
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators.”
فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ Faaghwaynakum inna kunnaghaween — 🔊
Ayah 33
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ Fa-innahum yawma-ithin fee alAAathabimushtarikoon — 🔊
Ayah 34
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ Inna kathalika nafAAalu bilmujrimeen — 🔊
Ayah 35
Indeed they, when it was said to them, “There is no deity but Allāh,” were arrogant
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahumla ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroon — 🔊
Ayah 36
And were saying, “Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?”
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ Wayaqooloona a-inna latarikoo alihatinalishaAAirin majnoon — 🔊
Ayah 37
Rather, he [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Bal jaa bilhaqqi wasaddaqaalmursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 38
Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ Innakum latha-iqoo alAAathabial-aleem — 🔊
Ayah 39
And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Wama tujzawna illa makuntum taAAmaloon — 🔊
Ayah 40
But not the chosen servants of Allāh.
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen — 🔊
Ayah 41
Those will have a provision determined -
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ Ola-ika lahum rizqun maAAloom — 🔊
Ayah 42
Fruits;1 and they will be honored
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ Fawakihu wahum mukramoon — 🔊
Ayah 43
In gardens of pleasure
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ Fee jannati annaAAeem — 🔊
Ayah 44
On thrones facing one another.
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ AAala sururin mutaqabileen — 🔊
Ayah 45
There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ Yutafu AAalayhim bika/sin min maAAeen — 🔊
Ayah 46
White and delicious to the drinkers;
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ Baydaa laththatin lishsharibeen — 🔊
Ayah 47
No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ La feeha ghawlun walahum AAanha yunzafoon — 🔊
Ayah 48
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances with large, [beautiful] eyes,
وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ WaAAindahum qasiratu attarfiAAeen — 🔊
Ayah 49
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ Kaannahunna baydun maknoon — 🔊
Ayah 50
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloon — 🔊
Ayah 51
A speaker among them will say, “Indeed, I had a companion [on earth].
قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ Qala qa-ilun minhum innee kanalee qareen — 🔊
Ayah 52
Who would say, ‘Are you indeed of those who believe
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ Yaqoolu a-innaka lamina almusaddiqeen — 🔊
Ayah 53
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?‘”
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ A-itha mitna wakunnaturaban waAAithaman a-innalamadeenoon — 🔊
Ayah 54
He will say “Would you [care to] look?”
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ Qala hal antum muttaliAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 55
And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ FattalaAAa faraahu feesawa-i aljaheem — 🔊
Ayah 56
He will say, “By Allāh, you almost ruined me.
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ Qala tallahi in kidtalaturdeen — 🔊
Ayah 57
If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu minaalmuhdareen — 🔊
Ayah 58
Then, are we not to die
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ Afama nahnu bimayyiteen — 🔊
Ayah 59
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?”
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ Illa mawtatana al-oolawama nahnu bimuAAaththabeen — 🔊
Ayah 60
Indeed, this is the great attainment.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheem — 🔊
Ayah 61
For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.
لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloon — 🔊
Ayah 62
Is that [i.e., Paradise] a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqūm?
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratuazzaqqoom — 🔊
Ayah 63
Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ Inna jaAAalnahafitnatan liththalimeen — 🔊
Ayah 64
Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee aslialjaheem — 🔊
Ayah 65
Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu ashshayateen — 🔊
Ayah 66
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ Fa-innahum laakiloona minhafamali-oona minha albutoon — 🔊
Ayah 67
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawbanmin hameem — 🔊
Ayah 68
Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ Thumma inna marjiAAahum la-ila aljaheem — 🔊
Ayah 69
Indeed they found their fathers astray.
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleen — 🔊
Ayah 70
So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ Fahum AAala atharihimyuhraAAoon — 🔊
Ayah 71
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharual-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 72
And We had already sent among them warners.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireen — 🔊
Ayah 73
Then look how was the end of those who were warned -
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ Fanthur kayfa kanaAAaqibatu almunthareen — 🔊
Ayah 74
But not the chosen servants of Allāh.
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen — 🔊
Ayah 75
And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ Walaqad nadana noohunfalaniAAma almujeeboon — 🔊
Ayah 76
And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbialAAatheem — 🔊
Ayah 77
And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humualbaqeen — 🔊
Ayah 78
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen — 🔊
Ayah 79
“Peace upon Noah among the worlds.”
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Salamun AAala noohinfee alAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 80
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen — 🔊
Ayah 81
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 82
Then We drowned the others [i.e., disbelievers].
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ Thumma aghraqna al-akhareen — 🔊
Ayah 83
And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ Wa-inna min sheeAAatihi la-ibraheem — 🔊
Ayah 84
When he came to his Lord with a sound heart
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbinsaleem — 🔊
Ayah 85
[And] when he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mathataAAbudoon — 🔊
Ayah 86
Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allāh you desire?
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ A-ifkan alihatan doona Allahitureedoon — 🔊
Ayah 87
Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?”
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Fama thannukum birabbialAAalameen — 🔊
Ayah 88
And he cast a look at the stars.
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ Fanathara nathratanfee annujoom — 🔊
Ayah 89
And said, “Indeed, I am [about to be] ill.”
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ Faqala innee saqeem — 🔊
Ayah 90
So they turned away from him, departing.
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireen — 🔊
Ayah 91
Then he turned to their gods and said, “Do you not eat?1
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ Faragha ila alihatihimfaqala ala ta/kuloon — 🔊
Ayah 92
What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?“.
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ Ma lakum la tantiqoon — 🔊
Ayah 93
And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ Faragha AAalayhim darban bilyameen — 🔊
Ayah 94
Then they [i.e., the people] came toward him, hastening.
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoon — 🔊
Ayah 95
He said, “Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoon — 🔊
Ayah 96
While Allāh created you and that which you do?”
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ Wallahu khalaqakum wamataAAmaloon — 🔊
Ayah 97
They said, “Construct for him a structure [i.e., furnace] and throw him into the burning fire.”
قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyananfaalqoohu fee aljaheem — 🔊
Ayah 98
And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the most debased.
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumual-asfaleen — 🔊
Ayah 99
And [then] he said, “Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ Waqala innee thahibun ilarabbee sayahdeen — 🔊
Ayah 100
My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.”
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ Rabbi hablee mina assaliheen — 🔊
Ayah 101
So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ Fabashsharnahu bighulamin haleem — 🔊
Ayah 102
And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion he said, “O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think.” He said, “O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allāh wills, of the steadfast.”
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ Falamma balagha maAAahu assaAAyaqala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanamiannee athbahuka fanthur mathatara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tu/marusatajidunee in shaa Allahu mina assabireen — 🔊
Ayah 103
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,
فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ Falamma aslama watallahuliljabeen — 🔊
Ayah 104
We called to him, “O Abraham,
وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheem — 🔊
Ayah 105
You have fulfilled the vision.” Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Qad saddaqta arru/yainna kathalika najzee almuhsineen — 🔊
Ayah 106
Indeed, this was the clear trial.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ Inna hatha lahuwa albalaoalmubeen — 🔊
Ayah 107
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice
وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ Wafadaynahu bithibhinAAatheem — 🔊
Ayah 108
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen — 🔊
Ayah 109
“Peace upon Abraham.”
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Salamun AAala ibraheem — 🔊
Ayah 110
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Kathalika najzee almuhsineen — 🔊
Ayah 111
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 112
And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous
وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ Wabashsharnahu bi-ishaqanabiyyan mina assaliheen — 🔊
Ayah 113
And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself [i.e., sinner].
وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAalaishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinunwathalimun linafsihi mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 114
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ Walaqad mananna AAala moosawaharoon — 🔊
Ayah 115
And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahumamina alkarbi alAAatheem — 🔊
Ayah 116
And We supported them so it was they who overcame.
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ Wanasarnahum fakanoohumu alghalibeen — 🔊
Ayah 117
And We gave them the explicit Scripture [i.e., the Torah],
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ Waataynahuma alkitabaalmustabeen — 🔊
Ayah 118
And We guided them on the straight path.
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ Wahadaynahuma assirataalmustaqeem — 🔊
Ayah 119
And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ Watarakna AAalayhima fee al-akhireen — 🔊
Ayah 120
“Peace upon Moses and Aaron.”
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ Salamun AAala moosawaharoon — 🔊
Ayah 121
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen — 🔊
Ayah 122
Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Innahuma min AAibadinaalmu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 123
And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Wa-inna ilyasa lamina almursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 124
When he said to his people, “Will you not fear Allāh?
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Ith qala liqawmihi alatattaqoon — 🔊
Ayah 125
Do you call upon Baʿl and leave the best of creators -
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsanaalkhaliqeen — 🔊
Ayah 126
Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?”
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Allaha rabbakum warabba aba-ikumual-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 127
And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ Fakaththaboohu fa-innahum lamuhdaroon — 🔊
Ayah 128
Except the chosen servants of Allāh.
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen — 🔊
Ayah 129
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ Watarakna AAalayhi fee al-akhireen — 🔊
Ayah 130
“Peace upon Elias.”1
سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ Salamun AAala il yaseen — 🔊
Ayah 131
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineen — 🔊
Ayah 132
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Innahu min AAibadinaalmu/mineen — 🔊
Ayah 133
And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.
وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Wa-inna lootan lamina almursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 134
[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ Ith najjaynahu waahlahuajmaAAeen — 🔊
Ayah 135
Except an old woman [i.e., his wife] among those who remained [with the evildoers].
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireen — 🔊
Ayah 136
Then We destroyed the others.
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ Thumma dammarna al-akhareen — 🔊
Ayah 137
And indeed, you pass by them in the morning
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ Wa-innakum latamurroona AAalayhim musbiheen — 🔊
Ayah 138
And at night. Then will you not use reason?
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ Wabillayli afala taAAqiloon — 🔊
Ayah 139
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Wa-inna yoonusa lamina almursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 140
[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhoon — 🔊
Ayah 141
And he drew lots and was among the losers.
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeen — 🔊
Ayah 142
Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ Faltaqamahu alhootu wahuwamuleem — 🔊
Ayah 143
And had he not been of those who exalt Allāh,
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ Falawla annahu kana minaalmusabbiheen — 🔊
Ayah 144
He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ Lalabitha fee batnihi ilayawmi yubAAathoon — 🔊
Ayah 145
But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.
۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ Fanabathnahu bilAAara-iwahuwa saqeem — 🔊
Ayah 146
And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ Waanbatna AAalayhi shajaratan minyaqteen — 🔊
Ayah 147
And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.
وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ Waarsalnahu ila mi-ati alfinaw yazeedoon — 🔊
Ayah 148
And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ Faamanoo famattaAAnahum ilaheen — 🔊
Ayah 149
So inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], “Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?1
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ Fastaftihim alirabbika albanatuwalahumu albanoon — 🔊
Ayah 150
Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?”
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ Am khalaqna almala-ikata inathanwahum shahidoon — 🔊
Ayah 151
Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ Ala innahum min ifkihim layaqooloon — 🔊
Ayah 152
“Allāh has begotten,” and indeed, they are liars.
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ Walada Allahu wa-innahum lakathiboon — 🔊
Ayah 153
Has He chosen daughters over sons?
أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ Astafa albanati AAalaalbaneen — 🔊
Ayah 154
What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoon — 🔊
Ayah 155
Then will you not be reminded?
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ Afala tathakkaroon — 🔊
Ayah 156
Or do you have a clear authority?1
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ Am lakum sultanun mubeen — 🔊
Ayah 157
Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ Fa/too bikitabikum in kuntum sadiqeen — 🔊
Ayah 158
And they have made [i.e., claimed] between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought [to punishment].
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ WajaAAaloo baynahu wabayna aljinnatinasaban walaqad AAalimati aljinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon — 🔊
Ayah 159
Exalted is Allāh above what they describe,
سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ Subhana Allahi AAammayasifoon — 🔊
Ayah 160
Except the chosen servants of Allāh [who do not share in that sin].
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Illa AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen — 🔊
Ayah 161
So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ Fa-innakum wama taAAbudoon — 🔊
Ayah 162
You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him
مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـٰتِنِينَ Ma antum AAalayhi bifatineen — 🔊
Ayah 163
Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ Illa man huwa sali aljaheem — 🔊
Ayah 164
[The angels say] “There is not among us any except that he has a known position
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ Wama minna illa lahumaqamun maAAloom — 🔊
Ayah 165
And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ Wa-inna lanahnu assaffoon — 🔊
Ayah 166
And indeed, we are those who exalt Allāh.”
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ Wa-inna lanahnu almusabbihoon — 🔊
Ayah 167
And indeed, they [i.e., the disbelievers] used to say
وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ Wa-in kanoo layaqooloon — 🔊
Ayah 168
“If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Law anna AAindana thikranmina al-awwaleen — 🔊
Ayah 169
We would have been the chosen servants of Allāh.”
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ Lakunna AAibada Allahialmukhlaseen — 🔊
Ayah 170
But they disbelieved in it so they are going to know.
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ Fakafaroo bihi fasawfa yaAAlamoon — 🔊
Ayah 171
And Our word [i.e., decree] has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Walaqad sabaqat kalimatuna liAAibadinaalmursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 172
[That] indeed, they would be those given victory
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ Innahum lahumu almansooroon — 🔊
Ayah 173
And [that] indeed, Our soldiers [i.e., the believers] will be those who overcome
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ Wa-inna jundana lahumu alghaliboon — 🔊
Ayah 174
So, [O Muḥammad], leave them for a time.
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ Fatawalla AAanhum hatta heen — 🔊
Ayah 175
And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ Waabsirhum fasawfa yubsiroon — 🔊
Ayah 176
Then for Our punishment are they impatient?
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloon — 🔊
Ayah 177
But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ Fa-itha nazala bisahatihimfasaa sabahu almunthareen — 🔊
Ayah 178
And leave them for a time.
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ Watawalla AAanhum hatta heen — 🔊
Ayah 179
And see, for they are going to see.
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ Waabsir fasawfa yubsiroon — 🔊
Ayah 180
Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.
سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ Subhana rabbika rabbi alAAizzatiAAamma yasifoon — 🔊
Ayah 181
And peace upon the messengers.
وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Wasalamun AAala almursaleen — 🔊
Ayah 182
And praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.
وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ Walhamdu lillahirabbi alAAalameen — 🔊
